Rebecca Wilson and Kyle Sandilands are the worst thing to have ever happened to Big Brother Australia. I mean, I've had issues with hosts of BBAU a lot before this year. Gretel, Mike, Bree and Ryan for instance (oops, named them all! :p) but never in my life have I wanted two people out of this series so badly as I do Kyle and Rebeca. It's very strange since I was one of the few that actually liked them both when the series began but now...urgh.

I don't know how others feel about this but I do not watch Big Brother to see two overpaid people who don't even bother watching the show (and don't tell me any different that they do not bother to look past the copy before a show) act like they're better than the people who go on the show that they're presenting. Rebecca, in particular, seems disgusted by the very thought of the issues that the show opens up. Why do you need someone like that hosting? I'm all for differing opinions in host but I'm not into people being rude. If we wanted rude, egomaniac has-beens hosting Big Brother we'd have asked for Rove McManus. As for Kyle, much of the above is true for him as well but I just see Kyle as a giant, try-hard tool. Lord knows, I'm trying to like him but how can you? He's not at all inviting, he never smiles, he never says anything interesting and knows absolutely nothing about what he presents. Why in god's name would we want to watch him hosting Big Brother?

What do I think? I think BB should trim the fat before next season. These two do not belong in the Big Brother franchise. Like I said, this is odd since I originally liked them but that was because I was putting their behaviour down to nerves. I could have said a similar thing about Tony Squires (being seemingly disgusted by the nature of the show) yet he's managed to outgrow it and I genuinely like Tony a lot. Same for Jackie O, who seemed to suffer problems at the beggining as well. IMO, Kyle and Rebecca must go. I don't like these two on BB.

Says a lot about Australian culture - if you cry or get emotional you are crazy. But keep everything inside and not show any concern or care about anything... that's fine.

Bianca is Italian, no? a passionate nationality. I don't see anything wrong with her outburst apart from the fact that she is going to be really embarrassed about it later. She didn't scream or burp in someones face or throw soap in their eyes. She didn't reduce anyone to tears by attacking them or setting them up for conflict. She did nothing to anyone else apart from venting some anger, on her own in the back yard.... which she later apologized for.

Don't understand the fuss really.

Why do people think less of Trav coz he cried? He's a sensitive person. What did he do to anyone else? What did he do to you??

I despair at this compassionless world.

Yesterday someone said to me that I MUST hate Bianca cause she isn't a friend of Alice.

I've been a fan of Big Brother forever and my enjoyment of the show means I can separate my feelings for the housemates and the game from support for my friend.

Firstly I dont HATE anyone on Big Brother - I admire them all and I don't understand any of the fans who decide they can HATE someone they don't even know!!

But aside from wanting my mate to win $250,000 I'm a fan of other housemates for the win:

Travis I don't subscribe to the Travis is fake theory. I think he's got a great attitude and if there were more people like him in the world it would be a better place. Yes he can a bit naieve and too soft at times, but there are far greater crimes in the house that receive far less attention. Trav for the win!

Brigitte If the prize money was for the greatest entertainer in the house then Brig would win hands down. I love that she does whatever enters her head and she doesn't care what others think of her. She's not unkind or hurting others - she's just being herself. Brigitte for the win!

Terri I don't believe Terri is racist. She may be misguided or ill informed on the best way to advance Australia - but I dont believe that if she was walking down the street and an asian person was hurt or in trouble she would pass them by. Real racists discriminate in that way on a daily basis. I think Terri has worked hard on staying in the house and has learnt a lot from the experience. She has grown from an outsider in the group to being largely liked, even loved, by the housemates. She's been on the biggest journey and been entertaining along the way. Terri for the win!

Having said all that - Alice has done a fine job too! Al for the win!

Hey kids. How goes it? I haven't blogged in ages. Been busy with my own blog, www.la-deli.com.

Uni is out of the way, BB is still on and it is boring as shit. But I'm excited about Pamela Anderson giving the HMs a root with her twins.

I'm sure the producers had to run to IKEA to find new furniture to cope with the influx of silicon.

With Australians obsessed with hasbeens it really was a no brainer to hear Pamela will be entering the house. With Tara Reid offered a spot on our own DWTS, Carson Kressley a Myer spokes person and Mischa Barton on the cover of every fricken magazine across the country, Pamela was a shoe-in.

I hope Australia gives her a chance. Calling Jessica Simpson a slut is always a fantastic attribute.

Anyway this will probably be my final userblog entry and in doing so I would like to post a list of users for their wonderful dedication into making BBBA one of the least boring places to be on.

Frankie - You are the cock ring to my balls. I'm looking forward to causing more trouble with you next year. I'm definitely coming to brissy to c ya. Let's go shopping and throw 5 cent pieces at homeless people.

Tronno - You are a weird ****. Don't stop being weird.

Imegaphone - OMG. One of the best new finds of the year. This guy is sexy in an emo cut. We should party up and form some sort of evil duo and rob Sydneysiders of their will to live. I wanna impregnate people with u. OMG, it's just like a marriage. Say "I do" bitch.

Who else? Dramaqueen. OMG. We've shared the Tampax this year haven't we. Keep being a bitch. It's your only attribute I admire.

Davebbba. If I don't win that $500. Friendship OVAH. But anyway, thanks for some great times in May. I hope you repainted the ceiling.

Griffin & liberty.harlow (Nick & Susannah & Thomas) you guys have been a great addition to BBBA this year. I have a higher opinion of you now, than i did when you were on the show. You guys rock. I hope you come back in 09.

Toiletduck. We had some great times in May. I miss calling you a c--t. It always brang menstrual blood to my eyes.

Honourable mentions to: .....um. if i mentioned ur name, consider urselves lucky.

Anyway follow me during the off season on www.la-deli.com. Me & My friend are like so hilarious and we write better shit than Perez. We love our Heidi. I will be following Pamela in the house on LA Deli so please drop-in and support your fellow BBBA member.

Until 2009. Cya bye.

PS: Hall of Shame will be in my signature during the last week.

This blog is very long but I think you'll find it very interesting and alot of it is a single quote which isn't massively important.

The answer is no. Of course the answer is no but why is the answer no? A quick Wikipedia search notes that Big Brother Australia 2002 launched on 27th April 2002 and concluded on 21st July 2008 after 85 days. Noticing any similarities?

Well, yes, strangely enough the launch and finale dates are identical or are they? The difference between the dates that BB08 started and BB02 started and finished is infact the year. BB02 started on 27th April 2002 while BB08's television recording launch was held on 27th April 2008.

Now you're probably saying of course the year is different but isn't it just awesome how the dates are identical. Well, my friend, the years being different is the fundamental reason why the entire season is different.

Why is a show that aired between 27th April 2002 and 21st July 2002 with the same basic concept, the same number of overall contestants (including the 2002 'potential intruders') and the same prize money of $250 000 different to the show that is airing from 27th April 2008 to the 21st July 2008?

The answer is simply because they were held in different years. That's right, if Big Brother wasn't six years older than it was back in 2002, I have a feeling nothing would be different and overall we'd have a high rating Big Brother that we loved.

In fact, the only reason Big Brother faced a mountain of changes and an avalange of rating falls is because producers believe that viewers would get tired of the same old thing. In my opinion, producers correctly believe that viewers would get tired of the same old thing.

Of course each season of Big Brother has too change somewhat other wise BB08 which is, as BBBA member bb-06 said and I quote "BB05v4" would become "BB02v7".

Now we don't want BB05v5 in 2009 nor do we want a "BB02v8". We are not going to recieve a BB02v7 because no series has been like BB02 since the one and only Big Brother 2002. What we want in 2009 is BB09v1.

This is what we have wanted every year. We wanted BB03v1 in 2003 just as we wanted BB04v1 in 2004 and so on, just as we needed BB08v1 in 2008. So how do we distiguish between creating BB05v5 like we have seen for the past four years and BB09v1 like we have never seen before?

The answer is divided into six different areas that need work:

TIMESLOT

FNL

HOUSEMATES

HOSTS

THE HOUSE

TWISTS AND 'SUPRISES'

The only way to provide a new version of Big Brother every year is too work on these areas effectively. It doesn't mean a new host every year or a new house every year. It simply means that you have to put work into these areas when it is needed the most and in 2009 it is needed in all areas the most!

BB09v1

TIMESLOT

Simply put we need one hour 7.30pm Daily Shows, a fast-paced live eviction, a tighter formatted FNL if we have any FNL at all, more late night programming including live streaming, a live Nominations show with a host and live midweek specials with a host as well as, dare I say it, Uncut!

FNL

It's needs to be completely revamped and possibly put under a different name. A one hour show with limited gimmicks, wait make that no gimmicks and no Eviction twist for the winner.

HOUSEMATES

They need to be what we want. People chosen because they are entertaining and interesting not just a different stereotype to everyone else. Let's take a look at some of the BB02 housemates according to Wikipedia:

			QUOTE

				Aaron

Aaron Benton was a former member of the Royal Australian Navy. Was the third evictee, leaving on Day 28. Aaron is now a stripper on a cruise boat program in Sydney Harbour.

Shannon

Shannon Cleary was a personal trainer from Sydney and the fifth to be evicted from the house. Admitted she had once suffered from anorexia nervosa.

Peter

The winner of Big Brother 2002, Peter Corbett, lost both his parents at a young age. He is currently studying Medical Science at the University of Wollongong. He has also been an active charity supporter, assisting Banardos Australia and becoming an ambassador for Daffodil Day.

Nicole

A video producer, Nicole Dickmann was one of the three intruders voted into house by viewers. She was evicted several days later.

Jessica

Jessica Hardy became well known during her time in the house for her relationship with Marty, a relationship which led to their marriage outside of the house after the season ended. They are now divorced. She was a contestant in channel 7's 'The Mole' in 2001, however she was eliminated along with five other contestants in a twist in the very first episode.

Damian

Damian Hoo was a teaching student at the time of entering the House. He left the House in the season's first Eviction on Day 14. As is usual housemates' family members appear in the eviction programs. In this series Hoo's father Chan proved popular and continued in a recurring segment featured in episodes after Hoo's eviction, where he gave his eviction predictions.

Sahra

Sahra Kearney AKA "Sarah Kearney" was evictee # 12. Worked as an actress on Australian Television programs "Home & Away" and "Heartbreak High". Sahra also appeared on several commercials and continues to work as an Actress between Australia and the UK.

Nathan

Nathan Morris grew up in Kalgoorlie. He moved to Perth permanently after his stint on Big Brother to become a presenter on Perth radio station Nova 93.7, a role he still holds as of 2008.

Kieran

Kieran Tanner, from New South Wales, entered the House as an Intruder after being voted into the house by viewers, and retained after a housemate vote on which of the Intruders to keep.

Brodie

Brodie Young, from Melbourne, entered the house as an intruder. He was voted in by viewers and retained after a housemate vote on which intruders to keep. Was the host of Quizmania, a night game show formerly on the Nine Network (a rival to Hotdogs' The Up-Late Game Show, a housemate from Big Brother in 2005). He is also the ground announcer at Olympic Park Stadium, calling Melbourne Storm games.

Put simply, these housemates were normal people that Australia ended up loving. We don't need the same housemates, we simply need lovable and love to hate housemates. (The reason I keep referencing BB02 is because many tend to call BB02 and other earlier seasons the BB golden years.)

HOSTS

I think that Mike Goldman should get a better role aswell as Bree Amer. Keep Fitzy on FNL for the false entertainment value. Get rid of Kyle and those BM idiots. Jackie O needs a little more maybe fronting BM or Uncut.

THE HOUSE

I like views some have about 'The Battle' with a rich and a poor house as well as my own idea that has popped up among others aswell, similar to BBUK to the extreme where there are no walls and no privacy.

TWISTS AND 'SUPRISES'

We need interesting never before seen twists and no celebrity guests or houseguests apart from maybe former housemates from past seasons. We need a bigger prize twist going up to a million dollars or maybe the winner could win a new house.

There you have it - the start to creating BB09v1, not BB05v5 and definitely not the most unique BB05 version which is BB08 in my opinion.

BTW: How weird that BB02 had the same start and finish dates as BB08. Well, I thought it was cool anyway. Lol.

Was this blog an interesting piece of writting or a waste of time? Please leave a comment with your view!
Have a nice day! :)

OK, this season hasn’t been the best - in fact, it’s been a challenger for the worst, but at least since they reverted back to the original format it’s felt more like Big Brother again. Nominations, even more so than evictions, are the key part of the format and in the first few weeks of the series the show lost it’s soul. Also to be praised is the lack of Intruders - if we forget the gatecrashers, which I think we all have anyway.

However, if BB09 goes ahead the show needs to be given every chance to succeed - and that means more change is required.

TIME

Firstly, and most crucially, the time slot. The extended shows always perform significantly better after 7.30pm, while the hour-long shows seem far more popular too. So the first change is simply - move the weeknight shows to 7.30pm, extending them to an hour. And I’m in no doubt Ten could accommodate such a change considering nominations, midweek specials and FNL have filled the slot for years.

FNL

Talking of FNL, it’s an old one but it’s as relevant as ever - FNL is seriously over due a revamp. Firstly, axe Ryan so it’s no longer the BB boys club. Secondly, it’s slashed to an hour (8.30-9.30pm) so it’s straight to the point, rather than full of filler crap. And thirdly, it’s made with the Big Brother fan in mind, not their kids. Most importantly after four years of it being an individual competition the show is completely refocused with a new format and a renewed importance. The link with evictions is also removed.

LET BATTLE COMMENCE

What that change is depends on the series as a whole - and one tried and tested format would give both FNL, and Big Brother itself, the revamp it requires. Big Brother: The Battle - a revamped house, split into rich and poor, with up to 16 housemates split between the two sides. FNL then becomes the main “Battle” each week as the two sides of the house go head to head to claim their place on the rich side, with hot water, comfy beds and all the luxuries of the house, while the losers face the back to basics lifestyle - to the extreme.

The weekly task is also replaced by a series of ad-hoc challenges taking place randomly throughout the week either for rewards or for individual housemates to swap sides.

The format also allows for the nominations process to be revamped, and there are numerous ways it could be done. Each side of the house could nominate independently, with one from each side going head to head in the eviction vote. Other options include one side winning immunity, or perhaps linking it to the point system so the rich HMs nominations are worth 2 points and the poor HMs worth just the one. Or the nominations process could simply be left as it is, leaving the housemates themselves to decide how loyal to their own side of the house they are.

EVICTIONS

An absolute must - keep Mike Goldman as far away from them as physically possible. And they should certainly not bring back Gretel. Kyle and Jackie O have had the chance to bed in now and it’s important the show looks to the future, not too the past, so they should remain in charge next year. And them only being available one day a week has actually benefited the show this year, which hasn’t suffered from all the pointless midweek specials we had during Gretel’s final couple of years with the show.

And that’s the starting point to give BB09 a chance - it’s up to those paid to do the job to do the rest.

It was all aimed at his age.. although the producers have tried and made it so in the past BB should not be about age, It is not idol where they must be under 30. People of any age should be in the house and being themselves and if that is what Terrence was comfortable with good on him.

they were treading a really fine line with their comments and I was disgusted.

Do they expect the rules of future BBs to read "you may only take your clothes off if you are under 30 and have a top body"

they made me sick last night and i am spewin.............

“Good evening and welcome to this TEN News update, I’m Sandra Sully.

“First tonight, fans and media this week called on the government to step up anti-hoon laws and give police more power to deal with dangerous drivers. This follows an incident on Tuesday where ‘Grey Nomad’ gang members, Terrence and Terri, took the Kombi van joyriding. They attempted to run down several pedestrians, and Terrence could be heard shouting, ‘This is what’s wrong with the youth of Australia today!’ They have not received a strike for their actions.

“Doctors were called into the Big Brother house on Wednesday night to examine Brigitte’s mental welfare. Concerns had been raised throughout the day as Brigitte had gone almost twenty four hours without screaming something at the top of her lungs. She had also failed to call Terrence a ‘weirdo’ al day, despite his repeated attempts at provocation by wearing his sarong. When approached for comment, Terrence replied, ‘what’s sarong with that?’. Housemates then attempted to cite Terrence as an example of why euthanasia should be legalised… and encouraged.

“Another race row hit the house on Thursday morning, as Terri commented during breakfast that her toast ‘wasn’t dark enough’. This prompted some of the younger housemates to tell her she was being racist. Terri defended her actions, while using the opportunity to once again deny she had ever said ‘slit eyes’. Comment was today being sought from Nobbi.

“And lastly, this week’s train task took a controversial turn for the worse yesterday as one housemate was asked to lay down on the train tracks to demonstrate why platform safety rules should be obeyed at all time. Travis has now been removed from the house and placed into intensive care, after the locomotive failed to actually stop at the Bro Town platform and struck him at full speed.

“And that’s it for this TEN News update, from all of us here, have a good night.”

The victory dance was sweet, as GenY showed its class, by giving Terrence the arse, in last night’s eviction.

Right to the bitter end, this dickwad was having a sob about GenY, and how it sucks harder than gravity on the shuttle, that he and his smug, condescending, crass generation of rednecks don’t get a free pass from kids today to tear strips off another man’s self esteem, in order to augment his own.

He said he wanted to go into the house to learn about GenY, (despite the fact that his mind was made up long before he walked through the door). So what have been the lessons?

He’s been shown that the ethnic, sexual, and generational stereotypes of yesterday just don’t cut it anymore; that insults don’t pass for debate, and slurs don’t pass for comedy.

But the biggest lesson this tool takes from GenY, is that they don’t buy into his epic sense of entitlement; the notion that he personally is owed hushed tones, and a reverential sense of awe, simply because he’s the spawn of a preceding generation. A generation no greater, or no worse than the GenY he blames for every malady now.

It was inevitable that viewers would gag on his superiority complex – playing fast and loose with words like integrity and honour, as if he invented the very concepts, only to fob off every opposing view with the standard “you’re a politically correct wimp” line of defence.

So much for respect. And so much for it being a two way street.

Like Terrence, I’ve also had an education this week.

I’ve learned that the broad-brushing of gays, immigrants, and the young, is still the go for yesterday’s man - only the laughs coming at their expense are now much more subtle than the Kevin Bloody Wilson tripe of yore.

In the face of this, what’s shitting me most right now, are the people in that house, and some people on this forum, who mock empathy as a weakness. The ones who think we’re sucking all the laughter out of the room, if we dare think twice about the wider implications of a gag before we laugh at it.

Let me put it this way:
When George Michael tells a gay joke – I laugh.
When Dave Chappelle or Margaret Cho delivers a racially charged monologue – I laugh even harder.

And why? Intent. It all comes down to intent.
There’s a difference between a punch-line, and a punch.

The people who don’t get that now are the ones who never will. You know the type. The chest-thumping right wingers who flood threads, congratulating themselves on being so hardcore because nothing offends them. They’re working on the theory that if a joke or an idea doesn’t piss you off personally, then it automatically follows that it shouldn’t be offensive to anyone else either. As if their life experience is the only one that counts. And as if based on that, they get to be the arbiters of taste for all of us, and any dissent will not even be tolerated, let alone discussed.

In other words - putting yourself in someone else’s shoes makes you a miseryguts; a perpetual malcontent. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

So f**k that.

And f**k Terrence. The people, who understand the true meaning of integrity, honour, and respect, are the ones who just voted that bitch out. It’s back to the Dark Ages for you, dipshit - enjoy it. The rest of us move forward without you. Go bang your pan somewhere else.

Welcome to a recap of eviction night.

Inspired by Rory's attempt to teach Travis to stack bricks, Travis teaches Rory to answer phones in a call centre. To Travis's absurd delight, Rory manages to quickly grasp the concept of the 'greeting', which consists of 'hello my name is x, welcome to x'. Clearly Travis's job isn't quite as intellectually demanding as he thinks.

Cherry gets his prize for winning FNL - it's another movie screening. This time it's the new release Get Smart. Cherry chooses Brigitte to share the reward, hoping that Get Smart is actually an instructional video.

Terri talks to Rory about living in the Kombi van with Terrence. She reassures Rory that there's no hanky panky going on and Rory quietly leaves to go and vomit.

Terrence decides that he really needs a cup of tea and decides that everyone else should know this too. He calls through the house to the sleeping housemates, then bangs on a pot for a minute or two. The reason for this soon becomes clear. To Terrence, making a cup of tea isn't a case of boiling some water and adding tea leaves. Terrence's tea-making is an event of epic proportions, involving freshly picked mint, whole lemons, and ginger. Bianca eventually gets up out of bed and assembles the necessary ingredients for Terrence's tea, and is thanked by way of a snide remark at her lethargic attitude.

The hot water gets switched on and Terri and Terrence head for the showers. The housemates block various doors and the shower itself to disrupt the two. However, their prank fails dismally when Terrence remembers that there's a shower outside.

Terrence apologises to the housemates for the earlier pot-bashing and says that they needed lemon because 'we were starving to death out there'. Previously unaware of the incredible nutritional value of the lemon, World Vision recall all food shipments to Africa to replace them with lemons.

Terri and Terrence discuss political correctness and their lack thereof. Terri uses some nonsense talkback-radio argument that you're not allowed to say 'ho, ho, ho' at Christmas any more. Brigitte doesn't know what political correctness means and Terri gloats over the fact that she knew that Brigitte wouldn't know. Clearly Terri is happy for small victories, if her standard is going to be guessing things that Brigitte doesn't know.

BB desperately tries to get another romance storyline happening and Rory does the groundwork by talking to Ben and Bianca separately about how much they like each other. The relationship is doomed because neither of them believe what Rory is telling them, yet BB revisits the storyline every couple of minutes in grim desperation.

The conclusion of this week's trainspotting task is for the housemates to correctly arrange a bunch of train numbers into the order in which they appeared on the tracks during the week. The housemates are much too quick and efficient in arranging the correct order given the level of mental ability at their disposal, and the audience is left to wonder how BB rigged this task.

Travis and Brigitte tickle each other on the bed and it's impossible to differentiate their shrieks.

Ben spends an ungodly amount of time straightening his hair which is less than an inch long.

The housemates get costumes for a party which seems to have no discernable theme other than what was cheap at the local costume hire place this week. The housemates try pole dancing. Rory tries much too hard and the girls are horrified. Cherry is actually good at it. Terrence has a turn and everyone gets up to do something else. Terri steps up and the housemates beg Ben to squirt shampoo in their eyes.

And we move onto the eviction...

BB spends an inordinate amount of time going through the process of pretending that Brigitte could still be up for eviction even though she won FNL and clearly saved herself. Eventually, the three real nominees are revealed as Bianca, Rory, and Terrence. Bianca and Rory share a high-five, knowing as we all do that Terrence is doomed.

****face and Jackie O discuss the housemates. Jackie says that Terrence should stay because he's entertaining and funny. ****face accuses her of having a shit sense of humour and that she even laughs at the jokes on Fan Tails wrappers. I would have thought a man as wide as ****face would be more knowledgeable of his sugary confectionery than mixing up Fan Tails and Minties.

Rima comes back and it doesn't matter what ****face says, she's a freak with clearly freakish powers of healing. She's wearing a tea cosy on her head, presumably because Terrence has requested one to ramp up his tea-making method to even greater heights. They show the incident where Rima broke her leg, and then ask her how she feels seeing the footage. She says it makes her nauseous and she doesn't like to watch it. Yeah, it would have been nice to ask her that question before you showed the footage.

Clearly the eviction show is running well ahead of schedule, because they spend a ridiculous amount of time quizzing Rima on all the housemates, even though just like us she's only been watching them on TV. Apparently Ben can't be trusted because he has 'shifty eyes'. This is about as deep as Rima's character analysis gets. Rima is given a task to convince the housemates that one of them is a mole, which sounds as pointless as it will surely turn out to be.

They cross to the house, and ****face decides to make fun of Terrence's three-day growth even though ****face doesn't have the greatest facial hair in the world either. They cut to Rory who is sitting there hoping no one calls him out on his shitful trident Craig David quasi-beard thing.

Terrence gets evicted in what is quite possibly the least emotional BB farewell ever.

They question Terrence about Generation Y even though no one cares about what the selfish, polluting, power-hungry, resource-hoarding, John-Howard-loving baby boomers who won't just bugger off and die think of the current generation.

They talk about Brigitte, and show footage which is meant to show Brigitte being rude but instead is a video package of why Brigitte is a hundred times wittier than Terrence.

Rima comes back into the house and almost immediately stuffs up her task in spectacular style by telling all of the housemates that she has a secret mission but that she can't tell them what it is. BB makes a note to give the housemates step-by-step instructions for anything more complicated than eating and sleeping.
